  1. Filler Comparison- Carbon Black and Mineral Fillers at 50.00 phr
    • Compares several grades of virgin carbon black, silica, clay and others at 50phr in an EPDM formula for direct comparison of common fillers. Compounds evaluated based on rheology, durometer, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, rebound, viscosity and scorch.
  2. Accelerator Study in EPDM
    • Thiazole, thiuram, dithiocarbamate, thiourea, sulfur donor, and sulfonamides studied to determine effect of various individual accelerators in EPDM- including which temperature they start to accelerate.
  3. CR-SBR Blend Ratios
    • Determine effects of combining CR and SBR at various ratios for cost-efficient but well performing material. Rheology, unaged physicals, heat aging, and fluid aging in IRM 901 and 903 compared.
  4. Electrical Conductivity vs. Carbon Black Loading
    • Multiple virgin carbon black grades compared at various loadings to evaluate electrical conductivity in SBR. Rheology, durometer, tensile strength, percent elongation tested in addition to volume conductivity.
  5. Comparison of 33ACN, 50MU NBRs from various suppliers- going beyond the TDS
    • NBRs of equal viscosity and acrylonitrile content from various suppliers evaluated in a multitude of testing, including aging, low temperature testing, and processing simulations. Determine which suppliers’ NBR best fits specific applications.
  6. Impact of ACN Content in NBR
    • Durometer, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, low temperature brittleness, and Gehman torsional low temperature properties evaluated in 28% ACN, 34% ACN, and 41% ACN polymers.
  7. Impact of Plasticizer Loading in NBR
    • Durometer, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, low temperature brittleness, and Gehman torsional low temperature properties evaluated from 10-50phr of DOA.
  8. Impact of Plasticizer Selection in NBR
    • Durometer, tensile strength, elongation, tear strength, low temperature brittleness, and Gehman torsional low temperature properties evaluated using DOA, DOS, DHIN, and DOP for a direct comparison of these plasticizers.
  9. Diversity Study for Recovered Black Use
    • Determine which situations Delta-Energy “D-E Black” can improve a compound from a multitude of tests in a variety of polymers and cure systems, compared to several virgin carbon black grades.
  10. Injection Mold Analysis via Spider Molding
    • Various levels of process aids are evaluated in the spider mold to simulate the injection molding process. Knit line strength is quantified to help to understand process aid effect on flow lines leading to possible weak parts.
